Varsity Baseball Coach

The Varsity Baseball Coach will direct and lead the baseball program at St. Louis University High, including all levels of the coaching staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• In conjunction with the Athletic Director (AD), assigns and coordinates the responsibilities of the assistant coaches.
• Partners with the AD to build the contest and practice schedules for all levels of the program.
• Assists the AD in providing timely and constructive performance evaluations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Executes strategies for engaging student-athletes in mind, body, and spirit in accord with the Athletic Mission Statement and Ignatian values.
• Prepares game plans in collaboration with other team coaches.
• Provides instruction to team members aimed at skill development and growth over the season.
• Promotes sportsmanship among coaches and players throughout all levels of the program.
• Attends all required coaches meetings.
• Engages with the student athlete regarding academic status and eligibility requirements.
• Complies with the Metro Catholic Conference and MSHSAA guidelines.
• Partners with medical staff to ensure completion of physical exams, parental consent forms, waivers, and insurance forms.
• Communicate schedule and maintenance needs with the Grounds Department.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of the sport of baseball and possess strategies on how to communicate and convey that understanding to the student-athletes and coaches in all levels of the program
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and managerial skills.
• Ability to appropriately communicate with student athletes, parents, and coaches.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Google Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree
• At least three years of baseball coaching experience
