Technology Support Specialist - Tier 2

Assist students and staff by providing technical support for personal computers, hardware and software, audio/visual equipment, network switches, and peripheral equipment.

Duties include:

  • Primary help desk contact, including customer service aspects, equipment loans, managing trouble tickets.
  • Manage and setup faculty, staff and student computers, iPads and other devices
  • Troubleshoot network, projector, printer and audio/visual issues.
  • User account management, which includes the creation and deletion of users across multiple systems.
  • Oversees the inventory and purchasing of printer, A/V, office supplies and software licenses.
  • Handles AppleCare warranty repairs.
  • Manage backups of computers and G Suite (Google Apps) accounts.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to clearly explain technical issues to technical and non technical employees and students both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient with or having the ability to quickly learn an array of computer hardware, software and audio/visual equipment.
  • Experience using and troubleshooting Apple computers and other devices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and G Suite applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time and task management skills.
  • Familiarity with Windows computers and servers.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic UNIX/macOS terminal knowledge (SSH, etc.)
  • Experience supporting technology in a school environment
  • Website development/managing CMS systems
  • Programming with PHP and UNIX shell scripting
  • Experience using MDM (Mobile Device Management) platforms

Education and Experience:

  • Two-year college or technical degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of technology-related experience.
