French Teacher
St. Louis University High is a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory school for young men committed to its presence in the city of St. Louis and dedicated to building Christ's kingdom of truth, justice, love and peace. Founded in 1818, the school strives to serve an economically, socially and geographically diverse student population within the St. Louis metropolitan area. Academic excellence is a trademark of the school. We seek men and women of faith proficient in their fields and committed to leading students in co-curricular and pastoral ministry activities. The school expects faculty and staff to participate in spiritual formation programs, retreats, and Ignatian formation in education and spirituality.
The person hired for this position would work full-time and teach four levels of French. Preliminarily, this position is for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year, although candidates will be considered for a permanent position beyond this year if they apply. They may also fill a number of co-curricular and supervisory roles with students based upon the school's needs and their availability, interests or skills and experience.
A Master's degree and secondary level teaching experience are preferred. The language department values comprehensible input based methodologies rooted in practical, real-life use of the language and the person hired will be working within a department wide modern language curriculum.
Candidates will be expected to make a vibrant contribution to the school's co-curricular program in support of our mission of the educational and spiritual formation for young men.
